The vision behind the Local City Calendars on WhereCanWeDance.com is to provide a central, unbiased place where all dance events for a particular city can be listed.

Why Local City Calendars Are Important

It’s a common struggle for dancers, especially those traveling to a new city, to figure out where they can dance. Questions like, "Where are the socials?" or "What classes are happening and on which days?" often go unanswered without a clear resource. This often leads to creating group chats or relying on organizers or members in a city to manually share information over and over again—a process that’s inefficient and frustrating.

Or the dancer has to go searching through multiple FB group chats, pages, groups, and posts to simply find out where they can dance.

This issue isn’t limited to travelers. Many people who live in the same city often don’t know all the dance opportunities available to them. They struggle to find a comprehensive view of all the different instructors and dance styles that their city offers on a given week or month. In 2024, it’s surprising that we still don’t have a centralized place to easily access this information for both partner and solo dances.

How It Works

On WhereCanWeDance.com, once you add an event, it will automatically appear on the corresponding city calendar, if one exists. This ensures that all dance events for a city are listed in one place, making it easy for dancers—both locals and visitors—to find opportunities to dance.

Looking Ahead

Later in 2024, we plan to introduce a subscription feature that will allow users to subscribe to their favorite cities and receive weekly updates for free. This will keep dancers informed about events happening in their local city and beyond, helping foster a more connected dance community.
